The season of giving is nearly upon us and leading by example the Lake Cowichan RCMP teamed up with the 1st Lake Cowichan Scouts for their second annual Stuff the Cruiser & Fill the Canoe event which was took place on Oct. 21 in front of the Lake Cowichan Country Grocer.
It was a huge success, they said.
The RCMP and the Scouts collected just under 500 lbs of food, filling a police cruiser and a Scout canoe. They also took cash donations for the Lake Cowichan Food Bank Society.
“The community really stepped up, and the support from everyone was amazing,” said Constable David Prak. “We collected $1,668 in cash donations at the event, which is almost $400 more than last year. Without the hard work from the youth, volunteers, and the Lake Cowichan Country Grocer for hosting, this event wouldn’t be so successful. Thank you to everyone.”
