The Cowichan Lake Arts and Culture Society is offering folks a way to make memories, Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the curling lounge.

“It seems that the best Christmas ornaments are attached to memories. The best is something which is handmade,” explained Loretta Puckrin of the CLAC. “So this year we thought it would be appropriate to help people create something that could become an heirloom for their friends and family.”

Make a date with a friend or gather as a family to create both ornaments and cards.

From 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. participants can make a no-sew fabric ornament with ribbon or lace embellishments. Then, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. folks can use printmaking techniques to create greeting cards or create paper decorations suitable for hanging in the window.

“Although many of our residents celebrate the holidays as Christmas, there are many other ways of celebrating during the holiday season,” noted Kathie Fielding who will lead a workshop that afternoon. “All our projects invite attendees to personalize the methods so it meets their needs. Anyone who can work independently and safely with sharp objects is welcome to attend the workshops.”

The cost to join is $10 per session which covers the costs of the materials.

“Everything needed for the workshops is provided with many options from which to choose,” noted CLAC.

Pre-registration is required so adequate supplies can be sourced and be available.
