There weren’t quite as many plants on the tables as there may have been in previous years because 2017 was a rebuilding year for the Vancouver Island Heather Society after not being able to hold a show last year due to supply problems.
However, as the crowd of eager prospective buyers learned as they lined up waiting to get in, there were still some very special heather plants available for every kind of gardener.
Some of the new varieties even included Vancouver Island names like Race Rocks.
From the veteran heather fancier looking for something unique to those eager to buy a starter kit, buyers speedily cleared the tables of their offerings, which is traditional for this event.
