Carolyne Austin from the Fifty-Plus Activity Centre is reminding everyone that you can join the gang at the Centre (near the post office in Lake Cowichan) for “Cookies and Carols” on Thursday, Dec. 21 .

Why not come for lunch then bring sweets to share after? The sing-a-long starts after 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Chrissy Belcourt is delighted with the results of a second-annual fundraising evening of music by Clearcut and Hippie Whiskey held at the Riverside Inn in Lake Cowichan on Friday, Dec. 1.

“We raised $557 and are still filling out food hampers with non-perishables and clothing. It was very successful,” she said Sunday, adding that she intended to head out the next day to drop off everyone’s donations at Cowichan Lake Community Services.

“We received a bunch of squash and turkey. So I will give those items to the food bank for the new year. We are so happy and thankful to everyone that participated and supported,” she said.
