Miss Teenage Vancouver Island, the Valley’s own Olivia Nelson, is fundraising for her trip to the Miss Teenage Canada pageant in Toronto.

On Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. she will be holding a fundraiser at Jim Pattison Toyota on the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to her dad, Trevor Nelson, it should be quite a day.

“There will be a car wash by donation and hot dogs from Save-On Foods by donation. In addition, we’ve collected a lot of items for a silent auction; we’ve got things coming from Canadian Tire, Home Depot, a whole slew of restaurants, a print from the Municipality of North Cowichan, and lots more.”

The candidate will be there herself, too, to meet the public, after 11 a.m. when she gets off from her job as a hairdresser, Nelson said.
