Plenty of Halloween fun in the Cowichan Valley [photos]

Valleyview Centre’s Country Grocer is again hosting a big evening of Halloween fun on Monday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Families come back from their Halloween train ride at the BC Forest Discovery Centre in Duncan by the Jack o’ lantern gallery. Families with young children enjoy the daylight fun. It gets creepier after dark.



Cobble Hill

 

• Valleyview Centre’s Country Grocer is again hosting a big evening of Halloween fun on Monday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

This event is popular with families and features a bonfire, a DJ, and fireworks. There’s also a hot dog barbecue by donation to the 4-H Club and goody bags will be available to the first 200 children.

• At Cobble Hill Hall, families are invited to visit the Haunted Barns starting at dusk on Monday, Oct. 31. The Cobble Hill Farmers Institute, which has decorated the barn, is also hosting a bonfire, with hot dogs, treats, and hot chocolate in the village.

Crofton

 

• In Crofton, there is a Halloween at the Hall adult dance on Saturday, Oct. 29 starting at 7:30 p.m., organized by the Crofton Community Centre Society. tickets are $10 each and there are cash prizes for the best costume, so why not go all out?

Also in Crofton, there is a special Kids Halloween Night on Monday, Oct. 31 at the Crofton Community Centre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and costume judging is at 7 p.m. sharp. There is free pop and hot dogs for kids; for everyone else, there’s a $1 charge. And there are prizes for best costumes. For more information, call 250-256-3009.

Youbou

• In Youbou, the famous Haunted House is back at the Youbou Hall Monday, Oct. 31 starting at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free for an event that rewards the most hair-raising rooms and creatively costumed attendees with prizes.

While the doors open at 5:30 p.m. the Haunted House itself doesn’t open until 6:30. Costume judging takes place at 7 p.m. with fireworks to follow.
