Polar bears dive in across Cowichan [photos]

Brave souls across the Cowichan Valley started off 2016 with an icy dip in one of the area's lakes or in the ocean.

Brave souls across the Cowichan Valley started off 2016 with an icy dip in one of the area's lakes or in the ocean.

Hundreds girded themselves for the chilly waters off Crofton, Maple Bay and Cowichan Bay in annual polar bear swims.
