Happy Valentine’s Day!
The special occasion arrived early at the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton Friday night with a romantic dinner and intimate show by Edie Daponte and her quartet.

It was the first of five performances on successive nights at various Island locations for Daponte through Valentine’s Day.
She always holds a special place in her heart for the audiences that have turned up regularly for her shows in Crofton over the years. Some made the trip over from Salt Spring Island this time to see her perform.
The last time Daponte performed in Crofton before COVID in 2019 it was more like another holiday with heavy snow blanketing the area that night. “Merry Christmas” she quipped on that occasion.
There was fortunately none of that this time and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show without worrying about any frightful weather outside.
Daponte wore two different red dresses during the performance and always delivers her best for lovebirds with a program that includes many well-known favourite love songs, some originals and a few with international renown.
Other backing musicians, among Victoria’s finest, included: Attila Fias on piano, Joey Smith on bass and Damian Graham on drums.
Daponte concluded the show with ‘I Wish You Love’, the theme for the program and an appropriate send-off until she returns again.
