It’s a great week at the Cowichan Centre for Performing Arts.

British Columbia is a long, long way from southern Spain but Flamenco Rosario is attempting to waft the breath of the legendary gypsy dancers to the big stage of the Cowichan Theatre with a show on Saturday, Sept. 30, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Dancer Rosario Ancer is attempting to boost interest in the dance style in Vancouver by creating a troupe where a new generation of dancers can flourish, and audiences can soak up part of Spain’s rich culture.

It showcases the excitement of the guitar music, and the emotions of the dance itself.

Tickets are $36 each. Or buy the whole dance series of three events for $95. Call the Cowichan Ticket Centre at 250-748-7529 or go online to cowichanpac.ca to reserve.

Tickets are $28 each but there’s a special price for the whole, five-concert season. Check it out at cowichanpac.ca or check with the friendly folks at the Cowichan Ticket Centre at 250-748-7529.

And Wednesday, Oct. 4, Together Again: the Ultimate Tribute to Kenny and Dolly brings the music of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton to Cowichan in this tribute to a pair of country superstars.

Tuneful, and sometimes touching, this concert takes you back to a simpler time in country music.

Tickets are $48 each.
