The Cowichan Dance Collective presents Dance for the Community in collaboration with dance studios from across the Cowichan Valley on May 19 at 7 p.m. at the Cowichan Theatre.

Dancers of all ages will take the stage, bringing together a wide variety of genres and styles to raise funds for the Community Options Society in awareness and support of mental health. Community Options Society has been opening its doors to any and all youth and their families for over 44 years.

All donations and ticket proceeds will go to funding the Cowichan Options Society’s Outreach and Girls Empowerment Group which are 100 per cent funded through donation.

Cowichan Dance Collective is a pre-professional youth dance company, founded in 2016. The vision of co-artistic directors, Christine Shaw and Rebecca McLane is to provide opportunity for dancers, aged 12-19, from across the Valley to come together and further their development of dance and perform in non-competitive, community environments.

They are excited to host guest performances from Steps Ahead Dance, Carlson’s Dance, Adage Studio and Performing Arts, Celtic Rhythm Dancers, and West Coast Academy of Performing Arts.

Tickets are $13.50 each and are available at the Cowichan Ticket Centre, from cowichanpac.ca, or by phoning 250-748-7529.
