Laketown Shakedown turns it up on Canada Day weekend

Music lovers of all genres, travelled from all over to take in the jam packed annual music festival

The 2023 Laketown Shakedown brought acts from across the world and music lovers from across the island and mainland to take in the epic annual three-day festival, which was held at Laketown Ranch over the Canada Day long weekend. Some were all in and camped out for the whole festival, while others came out for the day.

There was no shortage of talent from great DJs, artists and bands that played on one of three different stages throughout the course of the weekend. Mainstage headliners included Bif Naked, and Third-Eye Blind who played on Friday. K’naan was a perfect act to play on Canada Day, as his song ‘Wavin’ Flag’ made it a special performance and day to remember as Canadians celebrated the country’s 156th birthday. Yukon Blonde and Portugal the Man were the two final acts on Saturday.

On Sunday many donned pink and Barbie themed shirts in anticipation of Aqua who were the second last to perform after Nova Scotia rapper Classified whose hit song ‘Oh Canada’ was also a big crowd-pleaser for the holiday weekend. The main act to close the main stage was Jamaica’s rap and reggae artist Shaggy a.k.a. Mr. Boombastic who had all those singing along to his unforgettable hits over the years.

Whether you attend the event annually, or it was your first time out to Laketown Ranch, Laketown Shaketown proved they know how to host a party, and lit it up.
