Cowichan Valley rapper Switch has written a song about coping with the loss of a loved one and he’s hoping to share his latest music with the community.
“My grandpa passed away last year, but my grandma has struggled with his loss long before he passed as his dementia disorder slowly faded who he was until he was no longer recognizable,” Switch explained. “I created the song ‘Memories’ to capture my feelings about the end of his life and the affect it had on my grandmother. I want to share this song with our community to remind anyone struggling with the fading of their loved ones to make memories while they have the time.”
The 2:58-minute song and accompanying video, produced by Sythe, and videographer, Luke Connor — both of the Cowichan Valley — are part of a four-track project funded through a grant from Creative BC.
“I’d love to share it with the community,” he said.
The song and video will be released Friday, Aug. 19.
