Summer Solstice concert set to warm up the Malahat

Juno and CFMA nominee Eileen McGann’s annual Summer Solstice Celebration concert happens Sunday, June 19

Juno and CFMA nominee Eileen McGann’s annual Summer Solstice Celebration concert happens Sunday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Malahat Park.

“It is one of the few concerts we do in Cowichan each year, and this one is always a special favourite,” McGann said, urging music lovers to “come and celebrate the summer solstice with us in a spectacular setting atop the Malahat, overlooking Saanich Inlet and beyond.”

The concert is held in a century-old log home “with one of the most amazing views on the Island and our hosts have graciously invited concert attendees to come early and have a picnic overlooking the amazing viewpoint before coming inside for the concert.”

The concert features songs and stories of the west coast landscape, solstice legends and lore, and plenty of choruses so everyone can sing along.

“The concert will be followed by an outdoor drum circle as the sun sets and the almost full moon rises. We had a fantastic time last year,” McGann said.
