There was one Junior winner, but a tie in the Senior category in this year’s Cowichan Consort Orchestra’s Concerto Competition.

Chairman Wendy Robison announced the winners last week: pianist Felipe Jiang, first in the Junior category; and flutists Gillian Newburn and Thomas Bauer, tied for first in the Senior applicants in the annual competition.

The winners will receive their bursary prizes and perform Saturday, March 11 in Duncan with the Consort Orchestra.

The group offered congratulations to all 13 young musicians that entered.
