VIDEO: It’s hit parade heaven as Duncan Christian School presents ‘Dion and the Belmonts: Your Own Backyard’

Those great hits of the early Sixties live again in this story about hall of famer Dion Dimucci.

The talented students of Duncan Christian Secondary School are taking you back in time this Friday and Saturday with musical Dion and the Belmonts: Your Own Back Yard.

The show, written and directed by the school’s own Greg Hollett, harks back to the early 1960s, when American Bandstand reigned supreme among teenagers, and boys in bands wore slick suits and white shirts and always carried combs to touch up their Brylcreemed hair.

Dion Dimucci and his pals rose to the top of the hit parade charts on the back of some great songs like ‘Teenager in Love’, ‘The Wanderer’, and more so there’s plenty of scope for a musical about them.

Duncan Christian has presented some very fine big-name musicals in recent years, with good singing and great production values and this is sure to be another of them.

As always, the show is family friendly, so bring the whole gang.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. both nights at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre.

Ticket prices are: adult $18; senior $16; student $14; child (5-12) $5 and child four and under, free.

For children four and under tickets, please contact the Cowichan Ticket Centre in person at 2687 James St., Duncan or by phone 250-748-7529.
