VIDEO: Young performers featured at Duncan Showroom

Over the next couple of weeks, there’s lots of chance to hear young talent

There’s a bit of a youth movement on at the Duncan Showroom these days.

Not that the redoubtable Longevity John Falkner, who himself has stopped aging at 50, doesn’t always support young talent, but when you see the names Greenlights, Teen Music Scene, Kids’ Dress Rehearsal, you know what’s what. You get in for $10.

Tonight, Friday, Sept. 21, starting at 7:30 p.m., you can enjoy the music of The Porter Brothers and Greenlights: “two young bands that we believe are progressing in their chosen styles and having fun,” Falkner says.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, also at 7:30, it’s time for Vogue Villains, Eric’s Basement, and Vying for Glory: offering three styles of indie rock from Vancouver Island. Admission is $10.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, it’s U!9: the Teen Music Scene.

This is truly an event for teens only — no pre-teens and no adults — created by Dr. PM. The lineup includes various invited performers chosen by the Dr. to join him onstage in a variety show styling.

“We finished off the last school year with the first episode. Now we start off the new year with the second. Do join us,” says the Showroom team.

Entry for that one is $5 at the door.

Finally, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m., the Showroom is holding Kids’ Dress Rehearsal and Open Mic.

If you’re 16 and under and you want to be on stage, singing, dancing, or playing an instrument, then it’s time to come on down to Station Street and join the fun at the Showroom.

“We have it all, and broadcast the show on YouTube so you can always go back and watch it.”

Five dollars gets you in the door.
