Elizabeth May feels there has been a discernible shift in political thinking across the country towards the Green Party.
Speaking to dozens of supporters in Duncan who excitedly waited for her biodiesel-powered tour bus to arrive despite the pouring rain Friday morning, the leader of the Green Party of Canada said that everywhere across Canada she has gone over the past few weeks during the federal election campaign, people are saying they have never seen so much support for the Green Party.

“Something is definitely shifting, and we’ve been running strong campaigns across the country with a good chance of gaining seats in New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and other places,” she said, holding on to her dog Xo.
“Of course Vancouver Island is ground zero for the Green Party and we’ve spent the last two days visiting all the seven federal ridings on the Island and believe they all can vote in Green MPs. There are just a few days to go before the election and I’m encouraging each of you to reach out and make sure people in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford know that [Green Party candidate] Lydia Hwitsum would be their most effective voice in Ottawa.”
May said the environment and climate change issues are at the top of concerns for voters this election and the Green Party is the best choice to deal with them.
“If you care about climate change and the environment, you have to vote Green,” she said.
