The Duncan Garage Quad-Shots claimed victory after a hard-fought contest at the Amazing Race Cowichan 2024, held on June 24.
Sponsored by the Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce and presented this year by the Malahat SkyWalk, this year’s Amazing Race saw 17 teams compete.
From the awe-inspiring start at the SkyWalk to the triumphant finish at the Cowichan Golf Club, each team’s path was dotted with Pit Stops, each hosting a challenge more fun and invigorating than the last.
“Thank you to 89.7 SunFM and TIme in the Valley for getting the word out,” the chamber said.
“Gratitude to Duncan Garage Cafe and Bakery for the incredible lunches, Silverback Branding and Marketing for the t-shirts, Community Futures Cowichan for the Racers' Startup Cash, Vancouver Island University for the tote bags, and Peninsula Co-op for the race gas cards.”

Cobble Hill's Parkland Fuels Corp. presented the Arbutus Ridge Ratepayers Association with a cheque for $10,000 in June as a contribution towards the construction of a pedestrian pathway along Ratcliffe Road, a favourite walking route for many residents.
With the help of Mike Wilson, the CVRD’s director for Cobble Hill, plans are in motion for the CVRD to construct a pathway as an extension of the district’s parks trail system, subject to the approval of funding in the 2025 budget together with the contribution from Parkland Fuels.
“Parkland Fuels has always been a very good community-minded neighbour and has a very strong safety ethic,” Wilson said.
“Safety has always been a major concern, both for pedestrian traffic and for the professional truck drivers hauling fuel who are always very respective and considerate to all pedestrians by giving them a wide berth and a friendly wave as they pass by.”
