A fraternal order has stepped up and raised almost $14,500 to help a local family facing serious medical issues.

The Duncan Eagles #2546 held a fundraiser for Kenny Evans, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and his family on Oct. 24 and members of the order were more than generous.

“Olivia (Lauzon, Kenny’s spouse) and Kenny are personal friends of mine and another member of the Duncan Eagles, Patti Ettinger,” said Jamie Grattan, the Eagles’ chaplain.

“The Eagles is about 'people helping people' so we made a motion to host the fundraiser for the family and all executives voted yes, as well as donating individually. The Eagles donated the venue and $1,000.”
