Kathy Code, Green Party
Never did I expect to be bombarded with the ethics of running as a Green Party candidate as a major issue here in Canada.
The frenzied fear of voting in a Conservative candidate has sucked the air out of the issues we should be dealing with.
I’ve been berated for not throwing my support and that of my followers over to the NDP candidate as if the Greens and our values are expendable and unworthy. This is not the democratic process I believe in.
Democracy is about freedom of choice, about the diversity of perspectives, however unpalatable.
The Greens are the only non-status quo party, standing for environmental and social justice, for the people.
The status-quo parties have brought us to this pivotal point over time to where we now live in a society unaffordable and inaccessible, especially for our young people.
You can’t keep voting for them and expect a different result.
The Greens carry no baggage, owing nothing to anyone, believing that taxpayer funds should be used for citizens, not corporations, that we must free ourselves from the staggering burden of fossil fuels, that housing, education, food, healthcare etc., should be accessible as part of our social bond.
I have faith that Canadians will make the right choice.
Alistair MacGregor, NDP
With a riding as far away from Ottawa as we are, we need a Member of Parliament who is well-connected with constituents.
In the time I’ve had the privilege of representing you, I’ve demonstrated a clear track record of listening to residents’ concerns and fighting hard for the issues that matter to them.
Canadians are proud of public health care, good jobs and the idea that we take care of one another.
This is a country built by people who believed in something better, and fought for it.
It’s time to do that again.
Canadians are already saying no to Poilievre’s deep cuts.
The Liberals are promising tax cuts for the wealthy and to balance the budget by cutting from services that families rely on.
It doesn’t matter if Liberals or Conservatives are in charge; the people at the top always come out ahead and working families are left behind.
Our riding has always been a close race between me and the Conservatives, who have taken their political divisiveness from Trump’s playbook.
I want to inspire your hope for better and invite folks from across the progressive spectrum to join me in this election.
Together, we can do great things.
Blair Herbert, Liberal Party
In this final stretch, I want readers to know a few things.
Liberals have a solid plan to tackle affordability, including building more affordable homes, engaging the construction industry and expanding our skilled trades workforce.
Liberals will transform Canada into an alternative energy superpower, building our economy while protecting the environment.
Liberals stand up for your unique individual rights.
Liberals fund the CBC because they respect journalism as a profession that keeps us accountable to the public.
Liberal leader Mark Carney is the most qualified federal leader to stand up to Trump and his tariffs.
This election is like no other in our history.
Former federal NDP leader Thomas Mulcair summarized it best, “Trump’s threat to Canada means this election must be a choice between the Liberals and Conservatives.”
And, don’t be fooled, the Conservatives are on the same end of the political spectrum as the Trump Republicans; not the leadership we want!
National polls show a tight race between only two parties; the Liberals and Conservatives.
The Liberals need your vote for a strong mandate to stand up to Donald Trump and his tariffs.
A vote cast any other way risks a Conservative government.
It’s that simple.
Jeff Kibble, Conservative Party
Our campaign is all about positive changes.
The thousands of people that we've been talking to in this riding during the campaign see that in the last 10 years, the cost of living has risen substantially and they are raising concerns about other issues, including those related to senior citizens and healthcare.
They have made it clear that they are ready for change and I'll continue connecting with businesses, industries and the citizens of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford and will take their concerns to Ottawa when I'm elected.
