Film series turns its eye to gas drilling industry

Eye Opener films is partnering with Duncan United Church Social Justice to screen Gasland 2, Thursday May 8 starting at 7 p.m. at Duncan United Church.

An important sequel, the film reveals the drilling industry's corrupting influence on politicians and regulators, showing how industry can wield enormous power over government.

An area starting just north of Chemainus and going north to the Comox Valley includes a coal and shale deposit well-suited to fracking. Gasland 2 reviews what local residents may expect when the frackers come to town.

The film screening will also feature special guests from the Council of Canadians and One Cowichan.
