New theatre screen offers better view

A new projection screen at the Cowichan Theatre will offer patrons a more colourful experience starting this weekend. "It's brighter and sharper than ever. Audiences attending screenings at the Cowichan Theatre, including Met Live in HD presentations, will now see them better on the newly installed Rosco 22' X 50' front white vinyl projection screen, which provides a brighter, clearer HD image to the previous screen," Brian Kroeker, theatre publicist announced Monday.

"The acquisition of the $6,800 screen was made possible by the continued generosity of The Friends of the Cowichan Theatre," he added.

In recent years, the theatre has ramped up its screen offerings, and now include not only Metropolitan opera broadcasts but also plays from Britain's national theatre, a variety of special films as part of the Reel Alternatives series, showing of productions such as Once Upon a Day in Cowichan and Resilience and the Cowichan Aboriginal Film Festival presentations.
