Three people were seriously injured and sections of the Trans-Canada Highway were closed after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mays Road, north of Duncan, and the highway on Saturday, Oct. 26 around 11 a.m.
"It was determined that a white sport utility vehicle was turning left across the Trans-Canada Highway when it was struck by a blue SUV travelling southbound on the highway," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé in a press release.
"The driver of the blue SUV sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital," he wrote. "Both the driver and passenger of the white SUV also sustained serious injuries and had to be transported to hospital for treatment."
The road was backed up, headed south in particular, for close to four hours so evidence could be collected and a reconstructionist could conduct a scene assessment.
Those with information about the collision are asked to call the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
