VIDEO: West Shore RCMP arrests 2 in Duncan after $10k shoplifting spree

Two men face charges after West Shore RCMP searched and seized a vehicle in Duncan that contained cash, drugs and what police say is stolen merchandise.

An afternoon of surveillance on two shoplifters netted $10,000 worth of goods police say was stolen from several south Island business in one afternoon.

West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Drugs & Organized Crime Unit arrested two suspects after following them over the Malahat on Sept. 12, the detachment said in a news release.

Using covert methods, officers watched two male suspects go into multiple locations of Home Depot, London Drugs and Best Buy throughout the Capital Regional District and beyond.

The pair was followed and arrested by West Shore RCMP for shoplifting outside a business in Duncan.

Police then searched the vehicle the pair was riding in, finding what officers believed to be more than $10,000 worth of merchandise as well as illicit and prescription drugs and cash and merchandise police believe to be stolen.

Police seized the vehicle and the suspects were released with a Dec. 12 court date.
