A downpour of rain wasn’t enough to stop the first round of the Cowichan Women’s Football League’s playoffs this past weekend at McAdam Park.

In rain-soaked fields and with more rain falling the games went off without a hitch — or a complaint — as players put their heads down and worked to get their teams through to the next round.

In the morning games, the No. 3 seeded Ravens flew high over the No. 6 seeded Ruckers and got the win to advance while the No. 2 seeded Storm calmed the No. 7 seeded Wild to take their place in the next round as well.

In the final game of the day, the No. 4 seeded Cougars pounced all over the No. 5 seeded Law.

In the semi-finals on Wednesday night, the Ravens matched up against the Storm and the Cougars took on the league-leading Crew for the right to advance to the finals but the scores were not available by the Citizen’s press time.

The CWFL finals take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at McAdam Park.
