The competition heated up on Friday afternoon when the STAR 3 skaters returned to the ice for the free skate event. On Saturday, the action began early with Emma Burt, Mila Mueller and Brooke Thomsen competing at the STAR 1 level in their first-ever competitions. These novices shone with confident performances, each receiving a bronze from the judges.
Alex Jensen, the final Fuller Lake Skating Club athlete of the weekend, capped off a strong club performance with silver in the STAR 5 men's event Saturday evening.
Head Coach Kailee Bowman praised the Fuller Lake Skating Club athletes.
“The Vancouver Island Regionals was a showcase of the hard work and passion of our skating club’s members," Bowman said. "I’m incredibly proud of our skaters. Not only did they deliver technically strong and artistic performances, but their results reflect the countless hours of dedication they have invested."
Bowman acknowledged both new and returning competitors and their efforts.
"Some skaters built on past programs but also tried new elements for the first time in a competition setting," she said. "Our club also had three first-time competitors. I am excited to see them build on this success and reach even greater heights in their skating journey.”
