The Old Farm Market in Duncan has expanded its vibrant community of local entrepreneurs by welcoming The Sweeet Spot, a vintage shop specializing in carefully curated, sustainably sourced clothing. The shop officially opened its doors on Friday, Dec. 6.

The Sweeet Spot joins a growing network of small businesses centred around The Old Farm Market, which has become a favourite gathering place for the Cowichan Valley community.

“Our hope is to continue building our Duncan location into a hub for the Cowichan community and an opportunity for locals, visitors and aspiring entrepreneurs alike,” says market general manager Chris Steel.

This marks the second location for The Sweeet Spot, owned by Bailey Gathright-Gingras. The original shop, a beloved fixture on Hornby Island, is well known for its charm. The vintage clothing store is the newest addition to the market, which has welcomed several businesses in recent years. Empire Donuts, one of the Island’s most popular fresh doughnut makers, now serves its treats inside The Coffee Shop, alongside baked goods from The Cowichan Bakery.

Just steps away, another local favourite has emerged – ZZA’s Pizza. This family-owned pizzeria has gained a loyal following for its New York-style, hand-tossed thin-crust pizzas. Made with locally sourced ingredients and select imports from Italy, ZZA’s offers an authentic, mouth-watering experience that’s quickly becoming a Cowichan Valley staple.

“We’re incredibly thankful for the chance to provide young, local business owners with a platform to share their passions in a safe, affordable and welcoming environment,” Steel says. “Community is at the heart of everything we do at The Old Farm Market. Making it easier for people to shop local and support local businesses is a driving force behind our plans for the future.”

Grab a coffee and doughnut with friends and family, explore the unique finds at The Sweeet Spot and take home a freshly baked pizza from ZZA’s to support the growing community in Cowichan Valley this holiday season.
