A Duncan family wants the public’s assistance in finding some unique and specialized environmental equipment that was stolen from them.
Trish King said thieves broke into three high-end vehicles and her husband’s work truck at their home in the north end of Duncan some time after 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and before 7 a.m. on Nov. 20.
She said nothing major was stolen from three of the vehicles, but her husband’s Dodge pick-up truck had specialized equipment that is now missing which is only used by people dealing with asbestos and other hazardous material.
“Only people in the industry would likely know what it is,” she said.
“This is extremely unique equipment and we’d really like it returned. The police said it’s so unique that it may resurface because the thieves may have trouble getting rid of it.”
King said the equipment was stored in four of five hard plastic cases, and if people see any of them, they are asked to please contact the police.
Officials from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP couldn’t be reached for comment by press time.
