That’s the way to determine the legitimacy of cancer foundation canvassers doing the rounds soon in the Mill Bay and Cowichan Bay communities.

Door-to-door canvassing is taking place over the next couple of weeks and canvassers hope to introduce residents to the BC Cancer Foundation, the largest funder of cancer research in the province, and to its monthly donor program.

Monthly donations support the life-saving research taking place at the BC Cancer Agency—helping improve cancer care for those in the community.

Anyone asking for funds is not associated with the BC Cancer Foundation.

The job of canvassers is only to explain the program and not to accept cash or one-time gifts or donations at the door.

Those who do sign up to give will receive an instant email confirmation, however.

Canvassers may be visiting other Cowichan communities in the coming months.

“It’s quite possible later on, but if they are, it hasn’t been confirmed yet,” said BC Cancer Foundation spokesman Vincent Matak.

Those with concerns or questions relating to the program are encouraged to call Colleen Malli at 1-888-906-2873 or visit bccancerfoundation.com
