Body of missing cardiologist found in Shawnigan park

A Greater Victoria cardiologist was found dead in a Shawnigan Lake park Jan. 11, four days after his family reported him missing.

Oak Bay police said Dennis Morgan, 58, who worked with Western Cardiology Associates, was last seen on the morning of Jan. 7 at his Oak Bay home. When he did not show up for work or at home, his family reported him missing and a search was launched by family members and RCMP.

His credit card was used at a Mill Bay gas station on Wednesday, but that transaction was the last on his debit or credit cards.

On the morning of Jan. 10, a family friend spotted his 2006 blue Land Rover at the Koksilah River Provincial Park. The next morning, RCMP and Cowichan Search and Rescue searched the area.

They found Morgan's body around 11 a.m., about a kilometre from the campsite. Police said foul play is not suspected.
