Christmas comes early for Duncan lotto winner

Forget those songs about getting your two front teeth or a hippopotamus for Christmas. What about one million bucks, guaranteed?

Christmas came early for Duncan's Brian Millar on Saturday, Nov. 29 when he discovered a $1 million win on his Lotto 6/49 ticket.

Millar likes to play the Double Dip at least once a week but after another Duncan resident had recently won big on Lotto 6/49, he was wary of the idea of lightning striking twice. But, he bought the ticket anyway, and is very thankful he did.

Because it was Millar Time! While stopping for gas at the 7-11/Petro Canada in Duncan, Millar decided to check his ticket and when the jackpot flashed across the screen the retailer was just as surprised as he was.

A jubilant Millar immediately rushed home to tell his wife the good news. "I told her: 'You better sit down. What kind of car would you like for Christmas?'"

The lucky ticket holder says he doesn't have any extravagant plans for his winnings, except to "put the money in the bank and invest wisely."

He bought his winning ticket at the Superstore in Duncan.
