On Thursday, Feb. 2, the Vancouver Island Motorsports Circuit hosts the annual Cowichan Valley School District Gravity Car Challenge.

More than 2,200 gravity cars were built by students at 15 different schools this year and this final event challenges students to race their speedy cars with competition from around the district.

With a chance to win a trip around the circuit in a high-performance sports car on the line, the competition is fierce.

The day’s activities include a tour of the Motorsports Circuit, a look under a high performance sports car, and photos inside. The Gravity Car Challenge is an annual event and aims to help students build or enhance fundamental trades skills.
