Three vehicles were involved in a crash at Beverly Street and the Trans Canada Highway in Duncan on Wednesday morning.

The crash, which was reported to North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at about 8:30 a.m., snarled the morning commute for many motorists, but was cleared up before noon.

Three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries, reported RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Tammy Douglas.

Traffic was backed up on Beverly Street itself and on Sherman Road and Canada Avenue heading into the city at 9 a.m., as well as the Trans Canada Highway.

Motorists were detoured around the site.

Several people on the Citizen’s Facebook page commented that the angle of the sun makes visibility difficult at that time of day in the area, often exacerbated by fog coming off Somenos Marsh.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
