David Slade is running for the CVRD’s Electoral Area C (Cobble Hill) in the upcoming municipal elections.

He is the sole contender running against incumbent Mike Wilson.

Slade is a lifelong resident of South Cowichan and, for more than 40 years, he was an employee, manager and owner of Drillwell Enterprises, a third-generation family-owned water well drilling business now employing more than 30 people, located in Duncan.

His community service includes being a member of the Cobble Hill Advisory Planning Commission, a former Cowichan Bay fire fighter, a softball sponsor and coach, 23 years as a Mill Bay fire department trustee and 16 years as board chair, founding member and current treasurer of the Cowichan Watershed Board, past president of the BC Groundwater Association, board member of Friends of Rails to Trails Vancouver Island, volunteer cancer driver and much more.

“My priorities include improvements in CVRD organization; expansion of parks and trails and safe walking and cycling options, more housing and affordable housing opportunities, action to address and adapt to climate change, and dealing with the ongoing problems coming from the Fisher Road industrial area,” Slade said.

“I’d also like to see a multi-use path along the length of the E&N corridor and protect Cobble Hill Mountain from logging. Please contact me to share thoughts, ideas, concerns at dslade4ch@gmail.com.”
