All human occupants got out safely on their own, but firefighters had to rescue a dog from a blaze in a house just south of Duncan early Tuesday morning.
According to Duncan fire chief Mike McKinlay, the dog was in a back bedroom of the house on Eleanor Street and needed to be retrieved by firefighters.
The fire started around midnight in the garage area and got into the roof of the house. Firefighters didn’t need long to take care of the flames.
“It was a quick knockdown, then about two hours of getting rid of the hot spots,” McKinlay said.
The cause is still under investigation.
