Emergency weather site opening in Duncan this weekend for homeless

Temperatures are forecast to drop to 2 C Friday night, 1 C Saturday night and -1 C Sunday night

Temperatures are expected to drop during the overnight hours this weekend, and in response, an emergency weather site is being opened in Duncan.

Those who need a place to get warm can go to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at 531 Herbert St. between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 22. Temperatures are forecast to drop to 2 C Friday night, 1 C Saturday night and -1 C Sunday night. A decision will be made on Monday about any extension.

Bus tickets to get to the site can be picked up from the Wellness and Recovery Centre at 5878 York Rd. Bus tickets will also be available at the church.

To find out in advance if space is available, people can call 250-883-3592.
