A tree down across power lines left 1,585 BC Hydro customers in the dark Wednesday night.

Power went out at 10:23 p.m. and wasn’t restored until 3:16 a.m. in an area described by Hydro as “south of Beverly Street, north of Duncan Street, west of Whistler Street, and east of Government Street.”

Duncan may have been dark but some residents were still up for a little Facebook chat.

“Power is out on Alder Street. Pitch black is cool,” posted the ever-postive Chuck McCandless while others said black was not their favourite colour.
