Emergency crews from both Crofton and Chemainus fire halls were called to to what was originally thought to be a logging truck rollover just before 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived at 9045 Crofton Rd, between Chemainus Road and Tsussi Road shortly after to find that the cab of the logging truck was right-side up but the extra trailer loaded with logs that was being towed by the logging truck that was also loaded with logs, had tipped over, spilling its load.

Chemainus crews were stood down and the Crofton firefighters then went to work quickly and set up a high-powered hose to push the heavy logs off the road.

For a short time the road was closed but within a half an hour alternating one-lane traffic was being let through until the cleanup was complete.
