North Cowichan residents who want to learn more about the way the municipality’s money is spent can attend four public budget meetings in the next few weeks.

North Cowichan council is inviting the community to learn about the draft 2016 budget and what it means for everyone.

Town hall meetings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the following dates and locations: Jan. 21 at Crofton Community Centre; Jan. 25 at Maple Bay Fire Hall; Jan. 26 at École Mount Prevost; and Jan. 28, at Chemainus Seniors Centre.

At each meeting, the mayor and chief administrative officer will provide an overview of the draft 2016 budget, followed by small-group discussions to gather input on key aspects of the draft budget.

At the end of the sessions, participants will have an opportunity to share comments and ask questions.

According to Mayor Jon Lefebure, it’s all about sharing ideas.

“Let us know what is important to you. Your ideas and concerns will be of great interest to council as we finalize this budget,” he said.

In addition to the town hall meetings, residents can also complete a short, online survey about municipal services and satisfaction levels at http://sgiz.mobi/s3/c7dc38ae72b4. Anyone unable to attend a town hall meeting may send feedback to council directly by emailing council@northcowichan.ca.

The agenda for these sessions, as well as additional information on the current budget process, can be found at: www.northcowichan.ca/budget2016.
