Every year, members of the school board take on the job of school liaison for a number of Valley schools, to keep themselves and their colleagues up to speed on what's going on around the district.
They also connect with school communities.
Joe Thorne is looking after Alexander Elementary, Khowhemun Elementary and Maple Bay Elementary.
Elizabeth Croft is the liaison for Alex Aitken Elementary, Cowichan Secondary/Quamichan Campus and Drinkwater Elementary. Cathy Schmidt has been assigned to École Mt. Prevost Elementary, Tansor Elementary and Cowichan Valley Open Learning Cooperative,
Cowichan Valley Alternate School and Cowichan Valley Adult Learning.
In the north zone, Rob Hutchins is looking after Chemainus Elementary and Thetis Island Schools, Chemainus Secondary and Crofton Elementary.
In the south end, board chair Candace Spilsbury is the liaison for Bench Elementary, École Cobble Hill Elementary and the International Student Program while vice-chair Barb DeGroot is assigned to Discovery Elementary, Frances Kelsey Secondary and George Bonner Elementary.
Randy Doman is looking after the west zone's Palsson Elementary and Lake Cowichan School.
