Homeless issues in Cowichan Valley board office area being addressed

The community’s homelessness initiative is moving forward on several fronts, school board chair Candace Spilsbury told her colleagues

The community’s homelessness initiative is moving forward on several fronts, school board chair Candace Spilsbury told her colleagues Feb. 14.

She has been attending meetings with a variety of agencies and levels of government because there were a number of homeless youth discovered camping out behind the school district offices at the end of last summer.

“There are a lot of initiatives going on in the community, and there’s the Homeless Count on Feb. 21,” she said, adding that March 6 is Everyone Should Have a Home Day.

“Things are happening out there,” Spilsbury concluded.
