Island Health’s board of directors regularly meets in communities within its service area and the next public forum is slated to be held in the Cowichan Valley.

The public meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at the golf course at 6507 North Rd. and will feature an update on the progress of plans for a new Cowichan District Hospital as well as a public health presentation from Cowichan’s medical health officer, Dr. Shannon Waters.

But be forewarned: those seeking answers must ask their questions early. Two weeks early, in fact. As part of Island Health’s guidelines, questions for the board of directors must be submitted before Sept. 13 if answers are expected during the group’s public forum at Duncan Meadows on Sept. 27.

Island Health also encourages those who wish to make a presentation to the board to submitt an application to do so. Again, the applications must be received two weeks in advance of the meeting.

Question submission and presentation application forms can be found by calling 250-370-8693 or on the Island Health website at https://www.islandhealth.ca/about-us/accountability/organization/board-presentations-questions
