Highway 18 to Lake Cowichan was closed for about three hours on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 16 after a crash involving a logging truck and a pickup truck.

RCMP were notified of the crash at about 6:30 a.m. and headed to the scene, where they found that a pickup truck had rear ended a logging truck. The logging truck wound up perpendicular to the road, blocking it.

The pickup truck driver had minor injuries and was taken to hospital for observation.

Traffic was detoured along Cowichan Lake Road until the vehicles were removed.

“We want to thank the drivers who were affected by this collision for their patience during the vehicle removing and RCMP investigation,” said Lake Cowichan RCMP Constable David Prak. “If anyone was in the area at the time of this collision and may has dashcam footage, please contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP.”
