Lorna Vomacka is looking to be re-elected for a third term as a town councillor in Lake Cowichan.

She said that during the eight years she’s been on council many projects came to completion, including the town’s water treatment plant.

But Vomacka said there is still much to be accomplished, including dealing with Lake Cowichan’s aging sewer system.

“It’s imperative to ensure our continued growth in the community with much-needed housing, and upgraded infrastructure will enable us to reach that goal,” she said.

“Homelessness, dilapidated schools, a dog park and the Centennial Park upgrades are some items I’d like to see at the forefront in the next four-year term.”

Vomacka said Lake Cowichan has such a small tax base that the town is always applying for grants and meeting with government ministers to hopefully be successful in moving its needs further up the ladder.

She said every community in B.C is facing the same challenges with aging infrastructure, and it’s imperative to bring the best impressions of Lake Cowichan to these discussions.

“As a small business owner, I understand the need to keep jobs in the community for our youth, and we need a tourism strategy to balance the need for employment and to protect the natural beauty of the area,” Vomacka said.

“It’s been a great opportunity to represent the residents of Lake Cowichan and I hope you will enable me to continue.”
