Update: The Malahat has reopened, but drivers are being warned of congestion.
Traffic in both directions on the Malahat has come to a halt after a motor-vehicle accident between a commercial truck and a black minivan near Split Rock Lookout in the early afternoon on March 7.
Traffic has been detoured for both northbound traffic and southbound traffic to Shawnigan Lake Road.
A Mainroad employee was stationed at the intersection of Shawnigan-Mill Bay Road and the Trans Canada, stopping every car ensuring they were headed to Mill Bay. Everyone headed to Victoria was detoured.
