Steven Troy Stewart, 23, has been arrested for a break-in at the Curves Fitness Centre on Brae Road in Duncan on March 16, shortly after 11 p.m.

Officers from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment responded to an anonymous tip that Curves had some suspicious activity going on around it and the man associated with it was near the high school.

Police were able to apprehend Stewart based on the description they had received.

Officers recovered items stolen from Curves that the Duncan man had in his possession, and charged him with break and enter, theft of property and failure to comply with conditions of undertaking.

Stewart remains in custody pending his next court appearance in April.

We can’t be everywhere at all times and truly appreciate when members of the public help us out, which is the case here,” said RCMP Cpl. Krista Hobday.

Their assistance greatly shortened the amount of time that would have been spent trying to identify the person responsible for this break and enter and theft of property.
