While investigating a separate incident, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP recovered a ship's wheel, and are hoping to track down its rightful owner.
The 24-inch-diameter spoke wheel was seized by investigators on July 25, but they were not able to get any information from the individual who was in possession of it, and are trying to find out who it belongs to.
"Found property can only be held for so long at the detachment before it is destroyed if not identified by the owner," Cpl. Krista Hobday said.
