The RCMP have arrested the suspect in an alleged assault on Dec. 8, but now they need the public’s help to find the victim.

Just after 10 a.m. on Thursday, officers from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP went to the 5800 block of York Road after witnesses called stating that a man with a large knife was assaulting another man.

“Several witnesses provided accurate descriptions of the suspect, a photo of the incident, and the suspect’s last known direction of travel,” said RCMP Sgt. Chris Manseau.

“Using all this information, the members were immediately able to identify and arrest the suspect without incident a short time later.”

The police spent hours canvassing the local area and conducting neighbourhood inquiries looking for the possible victim without success.

Local businesses in the area were also contacted for possible CCTV and surveillance cameras in effort to locate the victim.

Anyone with information about this incident, including anyone who witnessed the event, is asked to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
