The RCMP are looking for the public’s help to reunite some war medals and documents with the family to whom they belong.

In 2018, officers at the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment located and seized the war medals and documents, which were believed to be stolen, from an address in Duncan.

Since the seizure, multiple attempts have been made to identify the owner and his family in hopes of returning the items.

Recently, police learned the medals belonged to Jack Hickey who lived in Nanaimo, possibly with a Marcia Hickey, and he died in 2004.

Police are requesting help in identifying family members related to Jack and Marcie Hickey in hopes to hand the medals over to them.

“I really hope Jack’s family reaches out to us to claim these medals,” said RCMP Const. David Grey.

“I’m sure Jack went through a great deal during his service to earn these medals and this legacy should live on through his family.”

If you are a family member of Jack and Marcia Hickey, please contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
