People told to boil water in Chemainus

Chemainus residents are being told to boil their water before using it.

The boil water advisory was issued on Monday afternoon by the Municipality of North Cowichan, following consultation with Island Health. There is high turbidity in the water, officials said, which poses a risk to public health.

Users of the Chemainus water system should boil their water for at least a minute before using it for cooking, drinking or brushing their teeth.

It is safe to use unboiled water for bathing and washing clothes.
